Nursing Opportunities
Nurses make a valuable difference in the lives of Islanders by providing care to patients in our hospitals, comfort to seniors in our long-term care facilities, guidance to students as part of our school-based Student Well-being Teams and assistance to families in PEI communities. We have opportunities for new graduate and experienced nurses in ICU, acute care, and long term care settings across the Island.
Incentives
Prince Edward Island offers $5,000 incentive programs for Graduate and Experienced Registered Nurses to fill designated, high-demand vacancies within Health PEI. Up to $10,000 in Relocation Assistance may also be available.
The PEI Nursing Recruitment Incentive Program provides meaningful employment opportunities for recent graduates to fill vacant positions within Health PEI.
Experienced Nurse
The PEI Nursing Recruitment Incentive Program provides incentives to experienced Registered Nurses to fill designated in high-demand vacancies within Health PEI.
Programs
RN Referral
The PEI Experienced Registered Nurse Referral Program is an initiative to engage Islanders in assisting to recruit RNs with at least 24 months of experience to fill hard-to-recruit vacant RN positions at Health PEI. Islanders will receive a financial incentive of $1,500 for each RN who is successfully hired into an eligible RN position.
Transition to Practice
The Transition to Practice Program strives to support newly graduated Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) employed at Health PEI throughout their first year of practice and beyond. Newly graduated nurses beyond their first year of practice may also access these supports.

Electronic Medical Records system
A province-wide EMR system will provide a common platform for community-based practitioners. It will also integrate with the province’s hospitals which use the Cerner electronic health record system.
Patient medical homes have been formed at five Island primary care locations, beginning the shift in primary health care from solo family practices to collaborative health care and better access to care for Islanders.
A redevelopment and expansion are currently underway with the goal of ensuring all people living in PEI will have equal opportunity to achieve and maintain the best possible mental health and well-being throughout their lifetime.
