Recruitment Incentives


The Department of Health and Wellness offers several incentive programs for external candidates who are hired into eligible positions. Incentives may be stacked if the candidate and position meet all eligibility criteria. Additionally, relocation assistance may be available at the discretion of the Health PEI Hiring Manager for permanent hard-to-recruit positions.

Nursing Recruitment Incentive

  • $8,000 for eligible positions Island-wide

Rural Incentive

  • $5,000 for eligible positions outside of Charlottetown

Student Loan Incentive

  • Up to $8,000 for positions within Charlottetown
  • RN must have federal student loans and does not qualify for the Canada Loan Forgiveness Program due to their work location

Canada Student Loan Forgiveness

  • Up to $20,000 (Maximum $4,000 per year for 5 years) could be available for RNs working in a rural area. This is a federal program.
